Young De Ver Rider misses podium by a whisker

De Ver Cyles young rider Thomas Humphrys came narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the second round of the national cyclocross trophy at Ipswich. The course was muddy and slippery and so suited the more technical riders, and tended to offest the advantage of the older more powerful competitors. Thomas Held 3rd place until the final sprint where the power of his older rival told. Fourth place in this strong field was a commndable result as he was only 1 minute behind the reigning UK champion Alex Paton who finished second. He also claimed the scalp of Michael Butler, the reigning UK youth champion.
