Lanzarote 2008: Inside Team B

Team B were all present if not necessarily correct on this year's training camp. Now we're a bunch of not really serious cyclists but we're keen enough; the A team consisted of properly serious cyclists who were training for the Etape. The level of preparation within our team, which varied according to personal motivation and circumstance, eventually lead to a discussion amongst ourselves.


Team Leader Hospitalised After Training Crash

Maurice Burton was hospitalised after being hit by a car during a training ride on Sunday 30th March. Maurice was attended to at the scene by his riding companion who is a doctor, and was airlifted to hospital on La Palmas. He has since regained consciousness and X-rays revealed no broken bones.


Cape Argus 2008

Where: Cape Town, South Africa

Why: The world Biggest Mass Participation Bike Race in the World, some 35,000 entries
Its sunny there

When: March every Year, normally the second Sunday.

Difficulty: Its 109km's around the Cape with 4 climbs, but not climbs like in a Grand Fondo, or Etape (climbs a bit bigger like you get on a ride in the surrey hills)


Humphrys Maintains top 10 performance

Young Team De Ver rider Thomas Humphrys recorded his fourth top ten finish in a row in the cyclocross national trophy round four race at on 9th December 2007 in Bradford. This circuit favours bigger riders, so Humphrys was pleased with his result.


De Ver Rider scores another top 10 finish

Junior Team De Ver rider Thomas Humphry recorded another top 10 finish with 9th place in the third round of cyclocross' National Trophy. The race which took place on 18th November 2007 at Mallory Park in Leicestershire took placein freezing wintery conditions. At the conclusion of the race Thomas's shoes were frozen into the pedals.


Junior De Ver rider announces arrival with top 10 Finish

Junior De Ver rider Thomas Humphrys marked his entry into junior cyclocross (16 - 18 years) with a top 10 finish in the first round of the cyclocross national trophy on October 7th 2007 at Abergavenny. The course was a power circuit with long straights and flat sections that favoured the older more powerful riders. The reigning Junior champion Alex Paton finished fourth.


Young De Ver Rider misses podium by a whisker

De Ver Cyles young rider Thomas Humphrys came narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the second round of the national cyclocross trophy at Ipswich. The course was muddy and slippery and so suited the more technical riders, and tended to offest the advantage of the older more powerful competitors. Thomas Held 3rd place until the final sprint where the power of his older rival told.
